Individual eyelash extensions

Imagine this:
Long, classy, full and dark lashes every single day, without needing to put on coats and coats of mascara? Who would say no to that?
Literally waking up with your make up on, just putting on some foundation and lipstick and calling it a day?
This is the reality of having individual eyelash extensions!

Here are some things you should know about them.
Eyelash extensions aren't the same as false eyelashes.
The main difference is the method of applying: You would glue a strip of temporary, fake lashes onto your lash line, while you would get your semi-permanent individual eyelashes applied by a technician. He/she hand-glues the extensions on top of your natural lashes.
Individual eyelash extensions don't come in a strip but individually, which makes them super customisable and actually really realistic.
With proper care (and we will talk about that a little bit later), they can last for six to eight weeks until they naturally fall out, like your natural lashes usually do.

How to care for your individual lash extensions.

Before you decide to get them, let’s see what it will it take to actually take care of them.

• 24 hours after getting lash extensions, you are not allowed to get them wet
The first 12 to 24 hours (depending on what glue your stylist uses) are crucial for your eyelashes to stick to your natural lashes. In this time, you should not touch the lashes, you are not allowed to wear any make up and you should not get them wet.
Do not worry, you can totally shower or take a bath after getting your lashes done, as long as you don’t get the lashes wet and don’t stay in the steam for too long.

• Wearing eyeliner and mascara is not recommended even though some people do.
You might be thinking: why? The mascara itself is not the problem, but the attempts of removing it are what can end up causing your extensions to break from the friction and makeup remover. As for eyeliner, using cream-based formulas should be avoided, because they often contain oils and waxes that can break down the glue that holds individual lashes glued to your natural lashes.

• When you are washing your face, be EXTRA gentle
If you have individual eyelash extensions on, you should go for cleansers specifically formulated to be safe for eyelash extensions. Products that are not specifically made for the care of individual lashes may contain ingredients that can weaken the bond of your lash extensions and cause them to shed before they are supposed to. And if you're wearing eye makeup on an everyday basis, use oil-free pads. When you remove your eye makeup, you should gently swipe downward, rather than back and forth, to get your lids and lashes clean.
And just common sense, you should definitely avoid rubbing the extensions or tugging at your eyes.

• it is advised you should comb your extensions every day
Your individual eyelash extensions can get tangled when you're showering (because of the steam) or sleeping, so you should definitely, at least three times a day, gently brush your lashes with a clean mascara wand. Do this when you wake up, after you shower, and at the end of the day. Also, in order to avoid them tangling while you sleep, a silk pillowcase is recommended.
Lash extensions can be pretty pricey and require a lot of maintenance
Let’s take London for example. A basic set (Which typically means 70 to 80 lashes per eye) can go anywhere from £90 to £300.
As we all know, eyelashes grow and they will eventually fall out naturally, so you have got to go back to the lash artist for infills every few weeks, this can cost anywhere from £50 to £110, depending on how many old individual extensions fall out and how many new lashes you need.
